When I opened the packaging and unseal the cake mix. The first thing I noticed was the fresh aroma of cacao and orange. The ingredients are so fragrant with fine texture. Likewise, it was super easy to prepare the cake mix. Simply by just following the clear instructions on the back of the packaging. Preparation took me less than 10 minutes and cooking time is 40 minutes. During baking, the cake continued to smell really enticing with the recipe flavour combination. Due to the fact that the ingredients are so fresh and high quality. In addition, I noticed that my house did not have an overpowering baking smell. Except for the sweet scent of chocolate and orange.
What you will need (per packaging)
- 2 Eggs or Vegan Egg Replacer
- 160ml water (I used 100ml freshly squeezed pulp free orange juice and 80ml water)
- 60g (2.1oz) Melted Margarine (Dairy Free) or Unsalted Butter [I used 60g (2.1oz) Vegan Butter]
- Cake Tin (8” x 3”) (210 x 72 mm)
Dark Chocolate Icing for Chocolate and Orange Cake
As Icing is not provided, I made my own simple 2 ingredients only Dark Chocolate Icing Recipe (Optional):
Dark Chocolate Icing
- 100 g Organic Dark Chocolate (Gluten Free & Vegan)
- 1 medium orange zest
- Melt the dark chocolate in a mixing bowl using double boil method or in microware until melted.
- Apply and spread evenly with a spatula one layer of icing onto the cake, let it dry for 2 minutes.
- Then add the remaining icing and spread evenly on the cake.
- Zest the orange using a zester grater on top of the cake before the chocolate icing dries up.
- Wait for the icing to dry before slicing the cake.
A delicate, silky-smooth and velvety quality cake that is super easy to make at home. Also, you definitely can’t tell its gluten free. It stays in shape after removing from the oven and when slicing. Furthermore, it even taste good after refrigeration. Likewise, the blend of chocolate and orange flavour is a well-loved cake recipe mix by many.
